Overview

This Diploma and BTEC Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering covers a comprehensive range of modules to prepare students for roles as Mechanical Engineering Technicians.

The Diplomas focus on the following core units: mechanics and solids, material, thermodynamics, computer aided design, fluid mechanics and dynamics, industrial management and instrument measurement and decision making skills.

Students are assessed via continuous assignments, tutorials, and written examinations culminating with a final year project. Assessment for BTEC Higher National Diploma will be by assignments only.

The above programme modules are for Newbridge Diploma. These module will be adapted for BTEC Higher National Diploma.

Entry Requirement

 SPM / O-Level  3 credits (Grade C or above) including Mathematics and one subject related to Science / technical / vocational and pass in English
 UEC  3 credits (Grade B or above) including Mathematics and a pass in English
 STPM  Pass STPM with passes in Mathematics, English and 1 subject related to Science/Technical/Vocational at SPM level
 Certificate Level 3 (MQF)
  1. Pass Certificate in Engineering/Engineering Technology or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00
  2. Pass Certificate in Vocational and Technical/Skills or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 with one credit at SPM level and working experience in the related industry for one year or at least participated in “bridging programme” for one semester

Career prospects

Engineering Technician engineers in the field of mechanical engineering design and development of mechanical components, structural engineering, factory maintenance and management, CAD application engineer and industrial planning.

Progression to degree programmes

The Diploma and BTEC Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering enable students to progress to second year Bachelor degree courses in mechanical engineering or related fields at selected local universities or universities in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and the United Kingdom.
