Overview

This Diploma in Information Technology and BTEC Higher National Diploma in Computing and Systems Development are designed to give students a broad knowledge and understanding of information technology principles which are essential for students to become effective IT personnel and administrators.

Information Technology is the development, implementation, and maintenance of computer hardware and software systems to organize and communicate information electronically.

The Diploma and BTEC Higher National Diploma expose students to key functional areas of Information Technology and their interconnection through a variety of core units: Computer Organization, Database, Operating System, Data Communication and Networking, Visual Programming, Management Information System, Multimedia and E-Commerce.

Students are assessed via continuous assignments, tutorials, and written examinations culminating with a final year project. Assessment for BTEC Higher National Diploma will be by assignments only.

The above programme modules are for Newbridge Diploma. These module will be adapted for BTEC Higher National Diploma.

Entry Requirement

SPM/ O-Level 3 credits (Grade C or above) including Mathematics
UEC 3 credits (Grade B or above) including Mathematics and a pass in English
STPM Pass STPM in any subjects and credit in Mathematics at SPM level
Certificate Level 3 (MQF) Pass certificate with credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent.
Other Equivalent Qualifications
  1. Candidates without credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent may be considered if the certificate programme consists of Mathematics which is equivalent to Mathematics at SPM level.
  2. Candidate with credit in any computing related subjects at SPM level or its equivalent may be given consideration.

Progression to degree programmes

The Diploma and BTEC Higher National Diploma in Computing and Systems enable students to progress to second year Bachelor degree courses in related field at selected local universities or universities in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and the United Kingdom.
