Overview

The Diploma in Computer Science and BTEC Higher National Diploma in Computing and Systems Development programme are designed to give students a strong foundation in computer technologies, the Internet and networking, database administration and programming with the aim of preparing students to become a competent professional in computer science with strong technical and analytical skills.

Computer Science is the systematic study of the feasibility, structure, expression, and mechanization of the methodical procedures that underlie the acquisition, representation, processing, storage, communication and access to information.

Students are assessed via continuous assignments, tutorials, and written examinations culminating with a final year project. Assessment for BTEC Higher National Diploma will be by assignments only

The above programme modules are for Newbridge Diploma. These module will be adapted for BTEC Higher National Diploma.

Entry Requirement

SPM / O-Level  3 credits (Grade C or above) including Mathematics and a pass in English
UEC  3 credits (Grade C or above) including Mathematics and a pass in English
STPM  Pass STPM in any subjects and credit in Mathematics at SPM level
Certificate Level 3 (MQF)  Pass certificate with credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent.
Other Equivalent Qualifications
  1. Candidates without credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent may be considered if the certificate programme consists of Mathematics which is equivalent to Mathematics at SPM level.
  2. Candidate with credit in any computing related subjects at SPM level or its equivalent may be given consideration.

Computer Programmer, IT Administration Assistant, Data Processing Assistant, IT Manager and Systems Support Specialist.

Progression to degree programmes

The Diploma and BTEC Higher National Diploma in Computing and Systems Development enable students to progress to second year Bachelor degree courses in related fields at selected local universities or universities in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and the United Kingdom.
